Chan's Megastick

Today's Animal of the Day is Chan's Megastick. Like me, you probably just imagined Jackie Chan fighting ten dudes with a huge wooden staff, but Chan's Megastick actually refers to a stick insect found in Southeast Asia. It is named after Malaysian biologist Datuk Chan Chew Lun, and it is the longest insect in the world, with a 14-inch body length and 22-inch legspan. They are extremely rare; less than 10 specimens have ever been observed, and all were only found on the island of Borneo.
