The Rockhopper Penguin

Today's Animal of the Day is the Rockhopper Penguin. It is the most well-known of the crested penguins, which can be identified by their blood red eyes and fabulous blonde eyebrows. Unlike most other penguins, rockhoppers will utilize hardcore parkour to jump over obstacles instead of awkwardly climbing and waddling. They are small animals, averaging about 20 inches in height and 5 lbs in weight, and are found in islands near Antarctica and off the southern coasts of South America, Africa, and Australia.

Scientists continually debate the classification of the animal's subspecies. Most will agree that there are Northern Rockhoppers and Southern Rockhoppers, but some also argue for the naming of Western and Eastern Rockhoppers. I can only assume that this is due to the penguins' formation of rival martial arts schools.
