The Great Tit

Today's Animal of the Day is the Great Tit. It is a small songbird, almost half a foot tall, found all across Europe and northern Asia. It is easily recognizable, with invariable coloration in its black head and neck, white cheeks, yellow belly with a black stripe, and blue-green wings. These birds are very common, and since they are colorful, acrobatic, and have a wide repertoire of songs, people will often set up habitats in their yards for them to nest in as unofficial pets. So if you visit someone's home and  see these birds, it's perfectly acceptable to say, "You have great tits!"

A Google image search for 'great tit' will yield pictures of this bird. Pluralize it, though, and you get something very different. On that note, brb.

(Seriously don't do it if there are people around you)
